I am excited to be back at Lamesa High School, the very place I began my career in education forty years ago! In my life, I have been deeply impacted and blessed by excellent teachers. Many of these were my own teachers and others have been colleagues through the years. I would have to say that my philosophy of education has been formed by my own experiences as a student, teacher, and counselor, rather than from the "formal" education I have received. My primary belief is that everyone can learn and achieve. I think that we are just scratching the surface with brain research to really understand the various mechanisms of learning and the multiple types of intelligence we possess. Not every student is a "traditional" learner, but with the right kind of help, all can find success. I want our students to feel that a good education holds the key to their future and is attainable. I also believe strongly that vocational education, athletics, and extra curricular activities help students develop important talents, abilities, and social skills outside the classroom. This profession is a "calling" and I stay with it for those moments when you know you have connected with a student and planted a seed that might impact the future direction of their life.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am proud of my two daughters who are products of the Lamesa ISD and Texas Tech (Go Red Raiders!) They are both married and I am further blessed with two great son-in-laws, two of the best grandsons ever, and a sweet little granddaughter!
Please do not hesitate to call if I can help you in any way. I would be glad to set up a conference at your convenience.
